About Dr. Atkins

I became a therapist because nobody told me men were allowed to struggle.

I spent my twenties doing everything right — career, relationship, fitness — while slowly falling apart inside. When I finally sat across from a therapist, I realized I'd never once been asked how I actually felt. Not by anyone. Not even by myself.

That experience shaped how I practice. I work with men because I know the silence we're taught to keep: sadness that comes out as anger, fear that turns into control, loneliness that turns into overwork.

My approach is direct. I won't nod silently while you talk in circles. I'll ask questions nobody else asks you, and say why I'm asking. I'll make room for whatever comes up, without judgment and without the expectation that you should already have this figured out.

I'm a licensed psychologist in Texas. I use cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy, and I explain each tool before we try it. I've done my own work, so I know what it costs to start.

“I know what it costs to start — and I know what it gives back.”
