Every man carries something he was never taught how to put down. These are the places we start.
What we talk about
Where men tend to start.
Every session is one-to-one and 50 minutes, in person or by video. You do not have to pick one.

When anger gets there first
For men whose temper, or whose silence, shows up before they know what they feel. Sessions slow things down: what happened, what you felt in your body, what you did next.
Method: cognitive behavioral therapy
Pace set with you, not by a count of sessions
Not a court-ordered program

When work is who you are
For men whose sense of self sits in a job title, and who feel lost when work goes badly or ends. Sessions look at what you value outside work, and what rest feels like.
Method: acceptance and commitment therapy
Pace set with you
Not career coaching or a job search

When people feel far away
For men whose partners or kids say they feel distant. Sessions are one-to-one: we practice saying a hard thing plainly, and work out what gets in the way.
Method: talk therapy with skills from cognitive behavioral therapy
Pace set with you
Not couples or family therapy

When something has been lost
For men carrying a death, a divorce, a lost job or a friendship that ended. Sessions make room for it, without hurrying you toward moving on.
Method: talk therapy, at your pace
You decide how much to say
Not a support group
What this is not
This is talk therapy for adults. It is not crisis care, couples or family therapy, an evaluation or testing, and I do not prescribe medication. If something here is not what you need, I will say so and help you look.
How long and how often
Sessions are 50 minutes. I do not set a number of sessions in advance. How often we meet and for how long is decided with you, and we check it as we go.
How it is paid
I am out of network with insurance plans, and I give you the fee in writing before you book. The page on fees explains receipts for reimbursement and the Good Faith Estimate.
Questions
Three questions about sessions
01Do I have to pick one of these?
No. Most people start with whatever is loudest and move around from there. We can change what we work on at any point.
02Do I need to have tried therapy before?
No. Many people who write to me have not. I explain the tools as we go, in plain words.
03Is there something I should prepare?
Nothing. If you want, think about what you would like to be different. If you can't say it yet, that is a fine place to begin.
Not sure where to start?
That's normal. Most men don't have a neat label for what they're feeling. Write to me and we'll work out a first step.
